En sélection, au 29e Festival International des Cinémas d’Asie de Vesoul, 85 films dont 38 inédits, venus de 31 pays,
Le président du Jury sera Mr Lee Yong-kwan (Corée), président du prestigieux festival de Busan, le Cannes de l’Asie.
Un hommage sera rendu au réalisateur turc Semih Kaplanoglu, en sa présence. L’intégrale de son œuvre sera présentée, de son premier film Away From Home, en compétition Vesoul 2002, à son dernier opus Les Promesses d’Hasan, Cannes 2021, en passant par Miel, Ours d’or Berlin 2010.
20 films en compétition, en première française, européenne, internationale ou mondiale,seront jugés par 7 Jurys (International, Critique, Netpac, Inalco, Marc Haaz, Lycéen, Jeune).
Les sections compétitives sont composées de films issus de cinématographies rares (Afghanistan, Azerbaïdjan, Cambodge, Kirghizistan, Laos, Mongolie, Singapour, Syrie, Vietnam), et de films de cinématographies majeures (Chine, Corée, Inde, Iran, Philippines).
Reprise de films primés au Musée des Arts asiatiques Guimet de Paris les 21, 22 et 23 avril 2023et à l’Inalco(Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales).
Pour célébrer le 75ème anniversaire des relations diplomatiques France-Philippines un Regard sur le cinéma philippin » avec le soutien de la FDCP (Film Devlopment Council of the Philippines):
Le cinéma philippin est connu internationalement par de fortes personnalités comme Lino Brocka, Brillante Mendoza ou Lav Diaz.
Ce regard se propose de mettre en valeur des œuvres restaurées récemment de cinéastes incontournables comme les vétérans Lamberto Avellana, Mario O’Hara, Ishmael Bernal, Mike de Leon, Kidlat Tahimik ou de jeunes talents comme Sheron Dayoc, Mikhail Red, Zig Dulay.
Le Regard sur le cinéma de Singapour explore, avec l’aide de l’Asian Film Archive, cette terra incognita cinématographique. Il permettra de découvrir des comédies musicales, dont un étonnant remake de la Fiévre dusamedi soir, des films d’action et de karaté, des romances, des drames historiques, … issus de l’âge d’or du cinéma de Singapour du temps où cette ville faisait partie de la Fédération de Malaisie ; et des films d’Eric Khoo, véritable père fondateur du cinéma singapourien contemporain, et de jeunes réalisateurs comme Anthony Chen, Royston Tan, Boo Junfeng, Ken Kwek.
La section thématique « Les cinémas des diasporas asiatiques » propose un vaste panorama d’œuvres de réalisateurs issus de pays asiatique vivant en exil ou intégrés depuis une ou plusieurs générations dans le pays d’accueil de leurs ascendants s’interrogeant sur leur identité liée à leur double culture. Les formes d’expression utilisées vont du film d’animation à la comédie dramatique, en passant par le film de genre : policier, thriller, comédie, …
Le jeune public et les amateurs de Japanimation ne sont pas oubliés.

The 29th Vesoul International Festival of Asian Cinema puts Vesoul for the 29th time
on the world map of cinema from February 28 to March 7, 2023:
Lee Yong-Kwan (Korea) and Semih Kaplanoglu (Turkey) Honorary Golden Cyclo;
Retrospectives Philippines and Singapore
In selection, at the 29th Festival International des Cinémas d’Asie de Vesoul, 85 films including 38 new ones, from 31 countries,
The president of the Jury will be Mr Lee Yong-kwan (Korea), president of the prestigious Busan festival, the Cannes of Asia.
A tribute will be paid to the Turkish director Semih Kaplanoglu, in his presence. The entirety of his work will be presented, from his first film Away From Home, in competition at Vesoul 2002, to his latest opus Hasan’s Promises, Cannes 2021, including Honey, Golden Bear Berlin 2010.
20 films in competition, in French, European, international or world premiere, will be judged by 7 juries (International, Critic, Netpac, Inalco, Marc Haaz, High School, Youth).
The competitive sections are composed of films from rare cinematographies (Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Mongolia, Singapore, Syria, Vietnam), and films from major cinematographies (China, Korea, India, Iran, Philippines).
Replay of award-winning films at the Guimet Museum of Asian Arts in Paris on April 21, 22 and 23, 2023 and at the Inalco (Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales).
To celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and the Philippines, « A Look at Philippine Cinema » will be held with the support of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP):
Philippine cinema is known internationally by strong personalities like Lino Brocka, Brillante Mendoza or Lav Diaz.
This look at Philippine cinema aims to highlight recently restored works of such veterans as Lamberto Avellana, Mario O’Hara, Ishmael Bernal, Mike de Leon, Kidlat Tahimik or young talents like Sheron Dayoc, Mikhail Red, Zig Dulay.
With the help of the Asian Film Archive, the Singapore Film Watch explores this cinematic terra incognita. It will feature musicals, including an amazing remake of Saturday Night Fever, action and karate films, romances, historical dramas, … from the golden age of Singapore cinema when this city was part of the Federation of Malaysia; and films by Eric Khoo, true founding father of contemporary Singaporean cinema, and young directors such as Anthony Chen, Royston Tan, Boo Junfeng, Ken Kwek.
The thematic section « Asian Diaspora Cinema » offers a vast panorama of works by directors from Asian countries living in exile or integrated for one or more generations in the host country of their ancestors, questioning their identity linked to their dual culture. The forms of expression used range from animated films to dramatic comedies, through genre films: detective, thriller, comedy, …
